Arkalalah Festival
Late October · Arkansas City, KS
A beloved Arkansas City tradition for more than 90 years, the Arkalalah Festival is the city’s annual fall celebration. The name comes from the Native American word “alalah,” meaning “good time”—and the festival lives up to it.
Held from Wednesday through Saturday during the last full weekend in October, Arkalalah features parades, food vendors, a carnival, marching band competitions, community reunions, and the Arkalalah Queen’s coronation, drawing tens of thousands of visitors each year.

Walnut Valley Festival
Third weekend in September · Winfield, KS
Often called simply “Winfield,” the Walnut Valley Festival began in 1972 as the National Guitar Flat-Picking Championships. Today, it is one of the most celebrated acoustic music festivals in the country.
Hosted at the Winfield Fairgrounds each September, the festival blends music, education, and community—creating a welcoming atmosphere that longtime attendees describe as a true homecoming.
